Instructors
Howard Beebe, 5th Dan
Howard Beebe, godan, started karate in 1973
and earned his shodan in 1977. He began teaching karate in 1980,
the same year he received his Masters in Philosophy from Ohio University
(OU). Howard was part of the the OU Collegiate team that won first
place in team kata at the very first ISKF National tournament in
1978 — other team members were Marty Vaughan and Chris Elsesser.
They were then chosen to compete at the first Pan American Championships
in Montreal, Canada where they won the gold medal.
Wendy McVicker, 4th Dan
Wendy McVicker began her karate training under Sensei H. Beebe in 1991.
She earned her shodan from Master T. Okazaki in 1994; she
received the rank of yondan (also from Master Okazaki) in 2007. She has
competed both nationally and internationally in ISKF tournaments, winning
a silver medal with the U.S. senior women's kata team at the Shoto Cup in
Toronto, Canada, in 2008; and a bronze with Mid–America's senior
women's kata team at the National Tournament in 2009.
